Below are some helpful tips to help you before your engagement session. Above all, I want you to choose what you are most comfortable and confident wearing.
Avoid patterns or crazy trends. Simple and timeless outfits will make you love your photos even 10 years down the road! Avoid wearing matching colors and choose colors that compliment each other instead. Leave your comfy Nike logo sweatshirt at home and embrace something with a clean, neutral color palette. Soft, neutral colors work especially well if you have an outdoor session planned! I suggest soft pinks, muted or dusty blues, heather grey, cream, whites, etc. If you want to run your outfit choices by me first, feel free to ask me! I am here to help you!
Feel free to dress up, but don't be afraid to keep it casual. Ladies, have you been looking for a reason to wear that gorgeous maxi dress that has been hanging in your closet? Well put it on and give me a twirl, girl! Guys, make sure to iron those shirts! Do you feel more comfortable and like yourself in a jean jacket? That is okay! I want you to be comfortable during our session! Always keep in mind the limitations of the location you have chosen. If you do go with a more casual look, I recommend dressing it up a bit more than your day-to-day style. Can't decide if you want to be dressy or go for a more relaxed look? Maybe a 2 hour session is best for you. That way, we can switch up your outfits and even your location!
Break out the accessories! A necklace, earrings, or a cute shoes can add so much to an outfit. Gentlemen, a nice watch can also add an awesome touch, especially in ring photos! I am a firm believer in layering! Layers can help you to create so much with just one outfit. Grab a tailored vest, or leather jacket!
Ladies, I recommend keeping your make-up neutral, while still making it unique to you and your style. Try to steer clear of glitter as it can catch the sunlight in interesting ways during your session. Feel free to wear your hair however you are comfortable - go for a braid, up-do, or even curl your hair if you'd like!
Your engagement ring is going to be the star of a few photos during your session, so if you're looking for an excuse to splurge on a manicure - treat yourself! If you're not a nail polish girl, fresh clean nails are a must. I highly suggest that you get your ring cleaned before your session as well. We want to see that bling!
Guys, I promise to keep this simple! A fresh haircut and beard trim a few days before your session can really help bring our entire look all together.
If you have any questions at all, I am here for you! Shoot me a message and we can go over details!
